Aim of Training
Training - child sexual abuse
Participant will gain an understanding of how perpetrators of child sexual harm come to harm children by overcoming their internal inhibitors and all external protections to a child.
Explorations of grooming of protective parent or carer, community and child. Including techniques used to interfere with child protective parent/carer relationships and damage caused.
How the perpetrators thought processes become replaced with distorted thinking which develops over time. The risk associated with distorted thinking and those who view images of child sexual abuse. The fine line between indirect abuse and contact offences. The cycle of offending.
Overcoming the child’s resistance. The complex reasons why children do not tell. The negative impacts upon a child including the child’s relationship with those around them.
Signs of child sexual abuse. The short and long term negative impacts of child sexual abuse upon child and into adulthood. The importance of being believed and supported after disclosure.
By the end of the session participants will have a greater understanding of the complex and subtle dynamics and issues relating to child sexual abuse and be more confident in their own thought processes relating to this subject. Become informed and empowered on when to be concerned and what actions to take in order to keep children safe.
