The importance of encouraging children to talk about everything.
Types of conversations that can encourage children to talk, including when they are unsure or afraid etc.
Exploration of all feelings and words children use and especially when they are unsure, afraid, not sure what to think or do etc.
Exploring who is in the child’s world and who would they talk to if they felt unsure, afraid etc. Who else can the child speak to.
Having conversations age appropriately, including younger children.
How to talk about body safety, including tools that can be used to help guide conversations.
Discussions on why we do not keep secrets and or the difference between good and bad secrets.
What’s OK to touch, what’s not OK to touch.
How to talk to a child if there’s concerns that sexual abuse may have occurred.

Aim of Training

Gain an understanding of the importance of encouraging children to talk about all issues in order to disclose and develop skills in having difficult conversations, at a level that suits each child and the use of tools in Keep Safe Work.
Gain confidence in empowering children in speaking up and having authority over their bodies and situations in which they may feel uncomfortable, afraid, unsure or similar.
Gain an understanding of possible signs of CSA and what to do when seeing the signs and or how to respond if a child makes a disclosure.
